What's Happening in Smyrna This Week - June 2, 2025
Your weekly rundown of everything happening in Smyrna.

Good morning, Smyrna! It’s Monday, June 2, 2025. Summer’s around the corner, and our town is buzzing – grab your coffee and let’s get into this week’s happenings.
Here’s What’s Happening Around Town
Monday, June 2:
Make-it Mondays – Kick off the week with a take-home craft kit for kids (ages 3–7). Swing by the Smyrna Library Youth Services desk anytime 10 AM–7 PM to pick up a fun themed craft that pairs with the weekly storytime tale (while supplies last). Glue and crayons not included – creativity required! Learn More
Babies Block Party – Babies need playdates too! This 30-minute play session (10:30 AM) at the library introduces little ones (0–24 months) to blocks of all shapes and sizes, helping them build motor skills while they “build” towers. It’s basically Baby’s First Engineering Club, and it’s as adorable as it sounds. Learn More
Mehalani’s Colors of Polynesia – Aloha, Smyrna! At 2:00 PM (Library Meeting Room), take a mini-vacation to the South Pacific. This family-friendly show features authentic dances from Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa, and New Zealand – all performed by the talented Mahealani’s Polynesian Entertainment troupe. Expect graceful hula, swirling poi, and lots of island vibes. (P.S. It’s free, but space is limited – registration required for all attendees.) Learn More
Special Called Mayor & Council Meeting – 6:00 PM @ City Hall Council Chambers. City budget talks may not be glitzy, but they keep Smyrna running. This one-off session is set to approve the FY2026 budget. It’s open to the public, so you’re welcome to sit in and see your tax dollars at work (and maybe witness a bit of local government drama). Learn More
Tuesday, June 3:
Infant & Toddler Storytime – 10:30 AM at Smyrna Library. Babies and tots (0–2 years) gather for songs, stories, and rhymes geared just for them. Each session is cozy and limited to 20 little ones + their caregivers, so registration is a must. (Pro tip: storytime repeats Wednesday at 10:30 and 11:30 AM, giving you extra chances to attend.) Learn More
Tweens: Creativity Club – 3:00 PM at the library. Tweens (8–12) get their time to shine in this hands-on club. Each week brings a cool new project – one week they might redesign book covers, another week it’s blowing paint with straws, next it could be DIY comics or magic. Bring your imagination (and maybe wear an old t-shirt, just in case) – and yes, sign-up is required for this popular meetup. Learn More
Food Truck Tuesday – 5:00–9:00 PM, Taylor-Brawner Park. Chow down al fresco at Smyrna’s weekly food truck fiesta! Dozens of gourmet food trucks line the park, serving up everything from fusion tacos to decadent desserts, plus live music to dine by. It’s one of the best food truck series around – running every Tuesday through September (with a break around July 4th & Labor Day) – so grab a picnic blanket, bring your appetite, and join the community fun. Learn More
Book Club: Friends Reading Group – 7:00 PM, Smyrna Library. The Friends of the Smyrna Library host their monthly book chat, and all bibliophiles are welcome. This isn’t your stuffy English class discussion – it’s a friendly, informal gathering to geek out over the month’s chosen novel and whatever everyone’s reading. Didn’t finish the book? Come anyway for the conversation (we won’t tell). Bonus: It’s a great way to meet fellow Smyrna book lovers, and you might discover your next favorite! Learn More
Wednesday, June 4:
Infant & Toddler Storytime – Encore sessions! If Tuesday storytime didn’t fit your schedule, the library offers it again at 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM today. Same fun songs and stories for ages 0–2, just a different day. BYO blankie or favorite cuddle toy for extra comfort. (Remember to pre-register, as spots are limited.) Learn More
Thursday, June 5:
Preschool Storytime – 10:30 AM, Smyrna Library. Three- to five-year-olds get their turn for storytime fun! Expect an interactive story, catchy rhymes, and a simple craft tailored for preschoolers developing their ABCs and motor skills. This week’s theme color is orange, so don’t be surprised if the craft involves something tangy or pumpkin-y. It’s a great mid-morning play-and-learn ritual (and a nice air-conditioned break for parents, too). Learn More
Friday, June 6:
Typewriter Tom’s Typewriter Fun Challenge – 10:30 AM–12:30 PM, Smyrna Library. Here’s a throwback for all ages 7 and up: Typewriter Tom is bringing a bunch of vintage typewriters to the library for everyone to try out! Yes, real typewriters – clackity-clacks and all. Test your typing the old-school way and even make art with it (think typewriter poetry or abstract letter designs). Kids, parents, and grandparents can all get in on this analog adventure – just remember, there’s no delete key! All children must bring an adult (and all adults must channel their inner Hemingway). Learn More
Saturday, June 7:
June Concert – Ray Howard Band – 7:00–10:00 PM, Village Green Park. Get ready to groove, Smyrna: the Ray Howard Band is lighting up our summer concert stage with classic Motown and R&B vibes! 🎶 This acclaimed group specializes in Earth, Wind & Fire tribute shows and Motown hits, delivering a high-energy performance that’s fun for all ages. The concert is FREE (bring the family, bring a cooler, bring your dancing shoes), and you can even reserve a table near the front if you want to feel fancy. Music under the stars in downtown Smyrna – does it get any better? (P.S. Show kicks off at 7 PM, but folks often come early to snag a good spot on the lawn.) Learn More
Sunday, June 8:
Smyrna Market – 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, Smyrna Market Village. Sunday morning = farmers market fun. Stroll the Market Village and browse over 60 local vendors offering farm-fresh produce, local honey, handmade soaps, baked goodies, artsy crafts and more. There are new vendors popping up each week, so it never gets old – one Sunday you might find the perfect hot sauce, another Sunday it’s gourmet pet treats or a quirky piece of jewelry you didn’t know you needed. Grab a coffee, soak in the live music, and enjoy this weekly community block party (and don’t forget to bring your reusable tote bags!). Learn More

Small Business Spotlight

✨ Alinea Chiropractic Center (2790 Cumberland Blvd) – For this week’s spotlight, meet one of Smyrna’s newest local businesses that’s got your back – literally. Alinea Chiropractic is a fresh-faced, family-run chiropractic clinic that just opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting celebration in our city. Dr. Lio and Dr. Sasha, the husband-and-wife duo behind Alinea, take a holistic twist on the usual back-cracking routine. Sure, they do traditional adjustments (cue the pop and relief!), but they also mix in techniques like Applied Kinesiology and Neuro-Emotional Therapy to tackle health from all angles alineachiropractic.com. It’s clear these two are passionate about helping Smyrnans feel their best – whether you’re dealing with pesky neck pain or just need an “alignment tune-up” after sitting at a desk too long. Welcome to Smyrna, Alinea Chiropractic! We’re aching (in a good way) to see your business thrive.
Feel free to reach out if you have community news or events for next week. Have a fantastic week, and see you around town! 🥳
